PianoForAll – In Depth Review of the Teaching

What do I get in the PianoforAll course?

When you first sign up for PianoforAll you choose either a physical DVD or an immediate  Download. I chose the download as that suited me better at the time and I have no regrets as I have a good internet service and it only took a few minutes to download the full course and I was able to start using it within about twenty minutes of paying for it.

The course consists of Ten Parts ( part6 All That Jazz being split in two) plus a Bonus Part.

Each Part consists of an e-Book consisting of excellent written descriptions and diagrams, but also within the text are frequent video and audio lessons and guides that really make this an easy course to follow.

Section 1- A Solid Foundation

Book 1 – Party Time Rhythm Style Piano
This Book forms the basis of the course. Unlike traditional piano teaching in which the lessons begin by learning to sight read music before getting to play anything on the keyboard and often then either losing patience or persisting with the piano lessons but having little or no idea how to play by ear. Pianofor all approaches it from the other way. It aims to give you a  solid foundation of chords on the keyboard and piano rhythms and get you playing some music and songs that you will easily recognize.

Book 2 – Blues and Rock n Roll
Book 3 – Chord Magic
Book 4 – Advanced Chords made Easy

These go further into understanding and playing Basic Blues Rythmns, getting better at the basic chords, inversions. At the end of Book 3 you should know all 24 Basic Major and Minor Chords which in itself is an accomplishment.

Book 4 works on more advanced piano chords, 9,11 and sus4 chords, diminished chords and cluster chords.

Section 2 – Building

Book 5 – Ballad Style
Book 6 – All That Jazz & Blues in 2 parts
Book 7 – Advanced Blues & Fake Stride

Book 5 begins with basic learning of how to improvise and the pentatonic scale to help you begin to play Ballad Style and then moves on to creating melodies and then extending the range of the left hand.

Book 6 moves on from basic Blues and begins to introduce Jazz rhythms to your playing. Part 2 moves on to more advanced Jazz styles quartal harmony and improvising. Descending Base lines, 7th chords, 9ths, Jazz in the Blues key of G,and F, 12 Bar blues in various Keys are also well covered in this 2 part section.

Book 7 begins with basic transposing and more advanced Blues Piano extending the range of the right hand with a very thorough section on chord riffs. Moving on to pick ups, Slides and tremelos and G scale Blues Riffs.

Section 3 – A Solid Piano Playing Style

Book 8 – Taming the Classics
Book 9 – Speed Learning

Now that you have a solid grasp of piano chords and rhythms and can find your way around the keyboard you should be able to learn the traditional piano basics at a much faster rate than if you began with this. At least that is the thinking behind the approach of Pianoforall, and it does seem to work, because like it or not in order to progress in the future and become a more accomplished pianist you will need to know how to read music and know about key signatures and all the stuff that as a complete beginner learning to play piano can really put you off when all you want to do at that stage is get a tune out of the darn thing.

Book 9 again takes you through the traditional teaching of learning scales and arpeggios but some very handy tips on how to master them quickly and how to effectively practice to make the most of piano practice time with chord and scale workouts in all keys to play through. As they say practice what you can’t play not what you can play!

Book 10 – Bumper Resource Book

This is a very useful resource of piano and keyboard related information from How to Choose a Piano or Keyboard, How to connect a keyboard to a Computer with midi, recording and editing software, and lots of piano related websites and great piano song lists and sheet music sites. LINK

Bonus – Learn More in Less Time

This book is not directly about learning to play piano but contains help with general techniques on Mindfulness skills that will help you make the most from your piano course by helping you learn more effectively and when you hit the barriers and are struggling with a keyboard technique lesson having the mental skills to power on through.

Some people may think it a load of bunkem, I found it surprisingly useful not only to help me get through the piano teaching but with some other issues in life.

Is PianoforAll a Scam?

My Verdict on PianoforAll Online Piano Course

I don’t feel that Pianoforall is a scam, but it won’t suit everybody’s way of learning.

It is a deceptively Thorough Piano Course that gets you playing tunes on your piano very quickly.

It would suit the student who likes a written, audio and video based style of learning.
